Dress Making Courses

Everything you need to make clothes
Put aside your everyday life events and come to my lovely studio and learn how to make clothes in styles of your choice. Dressmaking isn't just about making dresses, Its about dressing..., and that can also be trousers, waistcoats, jackets, skirts or tops, for any style, any shape, any gender identity.
When we make our clothes, they can be however we want them, in colours and textures we love, with shapes to enhance our silhouette and styles that feel natural and reflect the 'True You'. Sewing our own clothes adds another dimension, it makes them more personal and special, and we develop more of a sense of pride in our choice of clothes.
I will help you choose designs and patterns for your lifestyle, I'll help you select from a range of quality dress fabrics and share with you all the necessary measuring, cutting and sewing skills to realise your ideas and make your first item of clothing.
Course content includes
- Advice on developing your own design skills and ideas; how to select fabrics and begin using commercial dress patterns.
- Learn why you’ll need to take a comprehensive list of measurements and adjust patterns in order to make a perfectly fitting garment.
- Learn to use basic tools and machinery
- Learn a range of hand and machine sewing techniques with tricks of the trade to help you make your first project to a high standard.
Courses of weekly classes usually commence in January, April and September and are suitable for teenagers and adults of all ages and gender.
